Snowboarding

   Posted by: Kertap   in Utah

I’ve been in pain for the last week. My ribs got bruised when I went snowboarding. If your planning on learning to snow board where there is actual snow then you should know that you might be out of breath. Out of breath a lot, Considering you’ll be a couple of thousand feet above sea level.

I also fell down often. It’s very easy to get going on a snowboard. All you have to do is point the top of the board toward the bottom of the mountain and let gravity do the rest. The hard part is stopping. By the end of the day I was able to stop with my back facing the bottom of the mountain but I wasn’t able to do it facing the other way around. Every time I tried I fell spectacularly. Maybe next time I’ll get the hang of it. The guy that was showing us how to board said that it only took 4-5 times to get really good at it, at which stage you should be able to start doing tricks and jumping off lumps of snow. His brother however considered it cheating. I’m not sure what his exact argument was.

I think I’m going skiing this weekend so I expect I’ll be riddled with pain again on Monday.

That Dane Cook is a silly bitch….

   Posted by: Kertap   in Utah

Yesterday, I went to the local Dick’s Sporting goods to pick up some ski-pants, a hat, goggles and a ski mask. Now when I wear everything it looks like I’m some sort of ninja wearing a space suit. Which is fun.

After Dick’s we went to the Virgin Megastore (which isn’t that mega) and I picked up Dane Cook Retaliation. It came on 2 CD’s and a DVD. The CD’s are brilliant. I’d heard most of it before but there was some stuff that was new. There’s a bit about nothing fights that people who hate each other’s guts have and then directly after that is a bit about making up which is fantastic. The whole thing makes a little more sense although it still doesn’t explain “I just saw Jesus’ eyes”. Google strikes out on that one too.

Speaking of striking out, we decided to get an X-Box, not a 360, a few games and a “Shovels” controller. A shovels controller is one of the first controllers that were brought out for the X-Box, which you needed shovels for hands to use it. We got Madden 05 and a baseball game. It’s a pity that baseball isn’t popular enough in Europe to bring out baseball games. They’re a lot of fun especially when you can steal bases easily because your opponent is unfamiliar with the pad.

Stormy weather and snowboarding

   Posted by: Kertap   in Utah

There was a bit of a storm here last night. It started with rain about 7pm and by 9pm it was snowing. It fell pretty heavily in places but it didn’t stick around. The storm dropped around 7-11 inches on the mountains which apparently is great for skiing and snowboarding.

Speaking of snowboarding, I’m going up to one of the mountains on saturay. I’m really looking forward to it. I have most of the gear that I’ll need. I just need to get some ski pants and some form of hat. Hopefully I won’t break anything.
