Going out in SLC
One of the things you hear about with regards to drinking in Salt Lake City is how easy to get drunk. This is surprising considering that the state is run by Mormons and drinking isn’t actually encouraged by that particular religion. The reason it’s so easy to get drunk is because of how high above sea level you are. This means less oxygen and more fun after a few drinks.
So I went out for a few drinks saturday night. And drunk is what I got. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately) I didn’t get drunk enough to forget the nights shenanigans. I clearly remember some stuff. For one the bar was huge. It had three levels, the bottom basement level which had Gazillions of tv’s, pool tables and computer games, the middle level which was good for eating in and the top level which had the band.
As bands go they were alright. They played a lot of funk, some R&B and some Britney Spears.
Then all of a sudden the wierdest thing I’ve seen since I’ve come over to this country happened. People started line dancing. It wasn’t even a country and western song. They all just started to do the same thing. I have never been so shocked in my life. This was compounded by the fact that I’d had 4 millers and I was by far the most drunk person there.
Maybe next week if this happens again I’ll be able to deal with it in a more elegant manner.
